Engineer III - Systems Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide systems administration and help desk support for Windows, Linux (Red Hat), and Solaris environments.
- Install, configure, and update software; apply patches and troubleshoot system issues.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring cybersecurity solutions aligned with RMF controls and policies.
- Support configuration management processes using tools such as Git, Jenkins, or similar.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (e.g., system guides, job aids, version descriptions).
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
- Collect and track system performance metrics and assist in preparing deliverables.
- Perform tasks related to media control, audits, and classified/unclassified data handling.
- Help automate routine system processes using scripting tools.
- Preforms other duties as assigned.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field with 0–2 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in a related field with no prior experience required.
- Security Clearance:
- Active Secret clearance required at time of hire
- Must be able to obtain Top Secret clearance as required by program needs.
- Certifications:
- Security+ required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contracting requirements.
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Familiarity with RMF processes and cybersecurity compliance.
- Basic understanding of system hardening and STIG/Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tools.
- Exposure to virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) and performance monitoring tools.
- Ability to read and write simple automation or shell scripts (Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
- Experience with collaboration and ticketing tools such as Jira, Confluence, or SharePoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Salary Range: $95,000-$120,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
